3 Simple Changes That Have Improved My Sleep 

“Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle and can benefit your heart, weight, mind and more” (Health.com) 

  And believe me…I love my sleep! Just ask my husband who has before cleaned the whole house on a saturday morning, hoovering and everything while I’ve been like…..zzzzzzzzz! 

So why is it that as soon as I decide it’s time to sleep my brain is like ‘OH HEY, HI, LETS THINK ABOUT LIFE AND BILLS AND SOMETHING I’VE JUST REMEMBERED FROM 10 YEARS AGO!’ 

I have zero problem sleeping…once I’m actually asleep. But it got to the point where I was getting around 4/5 hours worth of good sleep as it was taking me so long to drift off! 

I had a little routine going before bed of watching TV, checking social media, editing photos from my phone and general ‘screen’ time which I think was the main problem! My brain was whizzing long after I’d put down my phone. 

So I decided I needed to change up my routine and add in some more relaxing time to help my mind switch off! 

1. Reading a book rather than looking at a screen

You may already do this, I know lots of people who read before bed and I can see why! It completely relaxes you and is less visually stimulating than checking twitter every 2 seconds so therefore calms the brain. I’ve actually set myself a 20 book challenge for 2017 to keep me busy and so far I’m on book no.1 (lol) which is obviously Harry Potter & The Philisophers Stone. OBSESSED. 

2. Sleep Spray

Because who doesn’t want their pillow to smell like a spa? 
I honestly didn’t even know this was a thing until recently but oh boy.. I’ve already maybe been through one whole bottle. 

Simply spritz on your pillow before bed and breathe in the deep scent. ALOT of the ones I have found contain a hella lot of Lavender which I find a bit overpowering but Neom’s pillow mist and ThisWorks Pillow Spray are the best and smell more spa like. 

3. Aromatherapy Diffuser

This is another little gem I didnt know existed until christmas when my sister in law brought us one. It’s a fab little contraption which you fill with water and a few drops of your fave smelling essential oils. When switched on, it then diffuses the water as steam which fills the room with scent! The best bit is that it also changes colour with gentle mood lighting which is super relaxing! I brought some eucalyptus oil as well as some Neom bath oils which work just as well. It does make a slight whirring noise but nothing excessive and when it runs out of water it just switches itself off so theres a fun little safety factor for ya! 
I do all 3 things each evening and it really has helped me to drift off!

    Ohh an aromatherapy diffuser? I didn’t even know these existed. Reading helps me so relaxing at night, I’ve been trying a night time tea I got in Tesco. It’s oat flower, lavender & lime flower. It’s a weird taste but I actually like it now xx

    I really want to try a sleep spray to see if it helps me. I’d have to find one that isn’t lavendar though as I’m not keen on the scent xx

    Love the This Works sleep spray really helps to relax me. Never heard of the diffuser before and it sounds amazing

    I always find the This Works Spray always wakes me up!!! I have no idea why so may try the Neom one instead
