Island Stories- Food From Faraway Shores, Right Here In Essex

Last Thursday, I was invited along to a foodie event in Chelmsford. All I knew was that there was going to be lots of amazing flavours involved as the catering company who were showcasing their food were Island Stories.

Island Stories is co-founded by Ikram Naim and Devon Ricketts who are both from glorious faraway shores (Sri Lanka & Barbados) and who came together to bring an incredible fusion of cultural influences to food here in the UK.

After being greeted with a glass of prosecco, we eagerly awaited the food and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Starting off with some delicious canapes of beetroot cured salmon and dill creme fraiche, Smokey aubergine and feta tart, breaded tuna with chilli and coriander jam and mini cheeseburgers (which were quite possibly the nicest burgers I have eaten!- and also an incredibly difficult thing to eat delicately as I learnt whilst almost dropping it all down myself- classy Zo).

The beetroot cured salmon was another favourite of mine, the flavour infusion was so delicious!

The food kept on coming, with bowls of beautifully presented meals brought out continuously- just how I like it- food and alot!

This quinoa, avocado and goat curd salad was beautiful and so tasty.

The wild sea bass was one of my favourites served with preserved lemon, asparagus and peas- this was such a tasty fresh dish that was very light but packed with flavour, perfect for summer and definitely one I will attempt to recreate at home!

The beef fillet with shitake caramel and horseradish mash was a popular dish among the other bloggers who attended the event.

Finally, dessert arrived and oh mumma, that chocolate delice with passionfruit jelly! That is the stuff dreams are made from!
