IS IT ACTUALLY SUMMER?  Who knows, one minute its so hot I feel like my face is melting and the next, it’s grey and rainy..England huh!  Either way I am ALL about that summer shopping right now. It’s two weeks until we break up from work for summer (high five teachers) and I am so looking forward to having some time to myself to refocus. In all honesty, the last few weeks have been a struggle! It has been a long term at work, and a busy one preparing all our school leavers for their next step alongside some personal worries and it has resulted in me feeling tired, worn out and a little overwhelmed at times.  BUT the holidays are in sight and we have a little trip to Kos to look forward to along with some days out planned and I’m SO READY FOR IT.  Let’s talk summer… View Post

Last week I took a trip down to Fenwick in Colchester for their Meet the Designers event, where they showcased some of the most beautiful pieces as well as having some of the brands in house to meet with us. I’m one of those people that is guilty of just sticking to the same pieces of jewellery everyday. Although I love jewellery, I just find it hard to pair pieces together and I guess I tend to avoid wearing much of it because of the nature of my job- who wants to wear a necklace you love only for a lovely little 2 year old to grab hold of it..not me. I do own some nice jewellery mainly from Pandora and Tiffany & co -as more classic pieces but it was so nice to go and view some trendy jewellery I could wear everyday. Fenwick have something for everyone in… View Post

Every Sunday is ‘Date Day’ for me and my husband, where we try and find somewhere new to go/ place to eat brunch. Last weekend we ventured to Dedham on the Essex/Suffolk border. Dedham is not a new place to us but it holds special memories as it’s where S asked me to marry him, plus its so damn beautiful! We parked up and went for a walk towards the river & glorious fields. It’s not a long walk (about 10 minutes) but you instantly feel like you’re somewhere more exciting than Essex. We had a wander up to the old mill and along the river. Thanks to the rain there was quite a lot of flooding around and the fields surrounding were well watered! We then strutted across the road to where the Boathouse Restaurant is beautifully situated on the river. They actually hire little boats out and you… View Post

As you may well know (if you follow me on social media), I attended an event held at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (home to Colchester United FC) last weekend. The event is called Glam and was tipped as the ultimate girls day out with health and beauty stands, demonstrations and a fashion show sponsored by Debenhams. Being a new event, I was completely unsure what to expect, as well as how many people would attend. I took my friend along with me and we were greeted at the front desk by a lovely lady who gave us directions and a little talk about what we could expect from the day. The main room was filled with brands from different aspects of health and beauty. Many were skincare brands or dentistry practices who were selling their teeth whitening/straightening services. One of the first stands we stopped at was Eco Sonya.… View Post

Christmas Eve is a day for baking and finishing wrapping all those presents! Gingerbread is one of my faves to bake on Christmas Eve as it fills the house with a heady ginger/cinnamon scent which really gets you in the festive mood. I decorated my gingerbread with white icing and silver balls. I love the handmade messy look with icing dripping off the edges! If you want to whip up a quick batch of these lovelies then the recipe is below! You will need: 125g unsalted butter 100g dark muscovado sugar 4 tbsp golden syrup 325g plain flour 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 2 tsp ground ginger A pinch of Cinnamon 1. Pre heat your oven to 170 degrees 2. I used a baking parchment to line my baking tray, you can use greaseproof paper or sprinkle a bit of flour on the tray 3. Melt the butter, sugar and… View Post
